Yeah, I have tried it. 30* decressed the entry steering into a tight corner but did help with on power steering. I did prefer the 25* overall. Guess it comes down to how tight the track is as to what is better. I'd say for a tight track 25* and 30* for larger tracks. I found adjusting epa for steering was a bit of help in fine tuning.
What about the shims? I kind of wish kyosho had a 27* block because this sounds exactly like why I went back to the 25 on my buggy. The 30 was just a little too pushy but it did have some likeable characteristics. Just not fast enough.
