Shaft Driven Cars were around long before the TC3.
I'm sure this this is not a new concept either but I guarantee that implementing this into the design of the T4 is a direct result of the Success of the Awesomatix.
It's just history repeating as manufactures revisit old concepts and seeing if they can improve on it (see gear diffs etc as well)
Recall my first TC, Schumacher Mission also had steering blocks at the rear, but it's links attached right at the back of the car.
