generally fine, considering it's machined steel ring gear and bevel gear box stock, super strong and super smooth, it's difficult to damage them.

most 1/10 buggy use casted gears, (with machined gears as a pricy option part), and those casted metal can get damaged with excessive power we have these days. and (black) grease goes a long way to protect them.

*another small thing, if your gear accidentally gets chipped, grease will help hold the broken piece on the gearbox wall, so it won't scramble around and cause further damage.
