For what it is worth I have a 2014 blue with all graphite parts except the C hubs. I have found the car to be very strong. I have broken 1 rear upright when being hit by another car. My car was on its lid on the straight and was cleaned up by another car at high speed.
I would be interested to hear why the bump steer shims cause the knuckles to break.
Where are they breaking? 2mm is a lot of shim for bump steer and the ball studs are not a excessively long, did you use a longer ball stud so there is enough thread screwed into the knuckle.
