It's only fair if the tire choice is common knowledge well in advance of the race , whether you go to the tamiya track for the speed tech race or practice at your own local club. It gives people a chance to prepare, just like any motor racing event, the tires are common knowledge before the season starts. This should be no different, IMHO. Just my 2 cents...
