How big is your track? I'm not going to speak for everyone else but only from experience. I've run your motor before with and without higher timing board. Our carpet track locally I believe is somewhere around 90x60 and I usually gear 3.8-4.0 with the sp motor. Gear for infield speeds and 3/4 of straightaway to find a happy medium. I see some really tall gearing suggestions here on rctech but I'm only speculating that these may be larger tracks.
