Go the newer car.
Mine should arrive today. My thinking was;
the shocks on the v5 are a little odd ball and only "right" for about 5% of conditions. When they are on, they're on though.
Anyone who's anyone upgraded their v5 to raceberry spec, so the v5 obviously has some major flaws/scope for improvement. Not saying the 418 doesn't, but you would expect it took this change into account
Newer suspension arms, uprights etc are all stronger (in theory) lighter (just) and optimised in terms of adjustment
In 12-18months time, I expect parts for the V5 are going to be hard to come by in comparison too.
The 418 is missing the ti coated suspension shafts though
