now with the shimming aspect i believe its not a must. it only needs to be used when you can not see any space between the fly wheel and the front crankcase. Shimming is only needed to bring the flywheel out abit so it wont rub against the front bearing of the engine.
it think thats its purpose.

... i think i'll loose the shim on this tr so that i'll gain back the proper freeplay for the thrust bearing...
