26* of motor end bell timing is included on the SMC 17.5 motor. That is, "if the screw is touching the plate where the L is marked the motor timing is set to 26 degrees. If it touches the H this is 60 degrees. In the middle is 43 degrees."
I did some testing with the SMC 17.5 motor at an indoor carpet track this weekend and the motor performed well. I was only 1 sec behind the local fast guy. I used the same gearing as with my D3.5, 35* of motor end bell timing and zero esc timing. The motor ran a lil hot after 6 mins so I reduced the motor end bell timing to 26* and the motor temps were acceptable. I plan on doing some more testing this week and an outdoor track.
