I love this car, but dislike the came design of the motor mount, tightened only by the one screw. IMO, it's the one design flaw of this buggy, as it seems to me that there is not way to positively clamp it down.
A good point that someone at our local track brought up:

It is possible to install the plate that attaches to the motor face backwards - with the flange facing the motor. I'm told you can install the motor just fine as you normally would, but it wouldn't "lock in" to the motor mount itself.

Not suggesting this is your issue, but something for anyone having an issue might double check.
