I've had the same issue with a Tekin rx8. I think it has to do with safety's they design in to guarantee that drivers aren't going to reverse while still moving forward. They clearly don't work very consistently.
Really? I just figured I was getting what I paid for. I didn't think the more expensive ESC's would have a problem like that.
