The motor does not have to be Novak, but the Novak Vulcan Spec 17.5t(12.5mm rotor) is pretty good..... Most racers run the trinity killshot, but burn them fast...lol...
Also, your 5.5t motor will be good to run mod someday, so keep it... The Gtb esc is a very fast esc for blinky(no timing) classes too ....

Sorry newb question -- can I use any brushless motor with the GTB ESC? Novak's website says, "Compatible with brushless and brushed motors" so I'm thinking yes but I want to make sure. I want to know if I can look for any 17.5T brushless or if it has to be a Novak.
