ditch the kit pinion and pick up a good hardened 06 module pinion. Robinson has them, and Tamiya makes a 19 and 20 tooth. The kit pinion is way too soft and gets "shark toothed" really easily and ends up tearing up the counter gear. Other things to improve the TL-01 in addition to those others have listed:

Oil Filled Shocks
Ball Diffs
Assorted Springs
Lightweight drive shaft

I wouldn't run the Speed Tuned gear set with anything below a decent stock motor. The speed tuned gear set drops the final drive down lower, which is better for motors like silver and black can mabuchi's and some slower stock motors.
