Pfft, this must be getting close to being the most stupid thing you have ever said Berty. Both spellings tire and tyre were used in the 15th and 16th centuries, tyre fell out of favor and but was revived in the 19th century and is the correct and proper spelling for a wheel covering in every English speaking nation other than the USA and Canada, because the USA likes to be different. Just like the USA don't have the metric system because the French own the physical weights and measure standard objects.
