I finally was able to get the new 'Black' Bar Codes for my stadium truck... The LHS didn't have any of the JConcepts #3205-1 inserts (and neither did their distributor, and JConcepts shows "out of stock"), so I test fitted closed cell inserts from ProLine and AKA... The red AKA inserts seemed(?) to over-fill the tire, causing too rounded a profile. The blue ProLine inserts were "close", but did under fill the tire, but since I wanted to use the tires last weekend, I used them. That now seems to have been a poor choice, since the tires hooked up great in terms of forward bite, and worked most of the time in terms of side bite, but were EXTREMELY unpredictable in the corners. It appears that the 'Black' Bar Codes are slightly "bigger" than 'blue' or 'green' because I can use ProLine inserts with those compounds without problems, but the 'Black' tires are not "filled" by these inserts and in the turns, they hook up great, then suddenly (and unpredictably), the tire will roll under, causing the truck to snap loose... Very hard to drive... Even worse, the tires "work" where the traction is not as good, but snap loose where the track is the most "tacky"...
Given the lack of JC inserts, what are other people using...?
PS: in the buggy 'Black' Bar Codes, AKA inserts seem to be perfect. At our local indoor track, the stock JConcepts white foam is too soft for use in the rear tires (major roll-under in the turns), so I need to find a good closed-cell insert...
My question is, where did you get Black compound barcodes for stadium truck? Last time I checked JC doesn't make them.
