Just because you can connect it to your PC to update it doesn't mean it has it has the capability to do something it wasnt designed for. Looking at the firmware update they pointed you toward it was probably for stability, enable new features, etc.
Think of it like updating the firmware on your esc. Some have the ability to log, some don't, but you can make them perform better/more stable/mroe efficient with newer firmware. Your charger is the same in this case. It can be updated but no logging functionality.
No offense, but I know what firmware is. What this unit did was load system drivers so windows can utilize it as hardware...
This is from the manual:
"Minimum computer requirements for use of included software: Microsoft®
Windows XP®, Windows 7® or Windows Vista® operating system, Compact disk (CD)
reader capable of reading a mini-CD and USB 2.0 port"
It has software somewhere? It suggest it would have been on supplied media, but no such media was in my box.
