Default charging a NI-MH battery

hey guys im new to the forum and i wanted to know i bought a 7.2v ni-mh battery and i have a smart charger that i can switch between .9A and 1.8A i wanted to know if i can put it on 1.8A if it would make a difference its 5000 MAH and its charging on .9A i feel like its taking for ever to charge i put it on at 11:30 EST and its now 2:10 EST its not warm (the battery) i guess thats good please help
