I run mine on a low-medium bumpy clay track. Changing from the b44.1 to the avid chassis with the conversion kit is the biggest & single hop up I've ever done on any rc vehicle. The aluminum chassis is actually 53g (iirc) heavier than the stock CF chassis. The benefit is all the weight is added as low as physically possible which lowers the CG & makes the buggy MUCH more stable over bumps. The combination of longer chassis & lower CG also makes it easier to control. The Avid chassis also has a location in the front as well as in the rear to add weights to customize the handling.
As Wild Cherry pointed out, for some REALLY good drivers on really small, tight, high grip, dedicated 1/10 style tracks the shorter & lighter weight .1 chassis can be better. If you & your track don't fit that description perfectly, the avid chassis is light years ahead of the .1 chassis.
Out of the 10 or so wheelers at my track 8 are b44's of various incarnations. Of those 8, 4 have bought the avid chassis & 4 have admited they can't afford the chassis currently. All of the b44 drivers have tried the avid chassis & the opinion is UNANIMOUS that for our track the Avid chassis is superior.
