Yes. I ended up getting a Viper VTX8 ESC. The root of the problem was that the Savox servo could pull 5 amps when stalled or shocked (like landing a jump). It simply overwhelmed my 3 amp BEC on my old ESC, even with a glitch buster cap. The receiver would shut off momentarily. The VTX8 has a 5 amp BEC. I still run the glitch buster, just for insurance. Haven't had a problem since.
Now to vent for a moment... If I had just blindly listened to the people who said "savox and spektrum just don't work together" or the "savox sucks" crowd, I would have wasted a lot of money on TX/RX and not solved all of my problems. If there is some one to blame... It's novak for claiming that the havoc pro sc ESC can handle the 4wd SCT class. Venting over...
I also couldn't figure out why this problem appeared "all of a sudden"... I think I figured that one out too. When my old ESC over-temped, it looked exactly like a brown-out (due to servo amp draw). My over-temping got much worse when I got a better set of tires on my truck. Better tires = more traction = more power draw = hotter ESC. So "all of a sudden" I got many more things that looked like brown-outs.
I did switch out to an OrangeRx receiver, just out of frustration. When a brown out happened with that receiver, it looked different than an over-temp... On a brown-out, the truck went straight ahead at about 10% throttle. On an over-temp, it went to a dead stop. That was the "ah ha" moment.
Probably a longer answer than you were expecting, but the whole situation was actually two problems, so it takes some explaining.
