Default Balance plug lead question

I have an Onyx 245 charger, and I run a 22 and a 22SCT, both with Venom shorty packs. I've eliminated a connector in the battery to ESC harness and have run the pos/neg wires from the ESC directly to bullet connectors on the batteries. To charge, I simply use alligator clips on the pos/neg for each battery, and insert the balancing lead (mini-bullet). However, I need to keep the charger close to the car/truck due to short wires. So, here's what I wan to do: run an 18" pos/neg 12 gauge charge leads from the charger to the battery. Then, attached the balance board to the charger with double sided tape, then run the pos/neg balance leads from the balance board to the charge leads at the charger, rather than the battery. Finally, I'll have a long balance lead from the balance board to the battery.

Has anyone tried this? Any issues to be aware of?

Cliff notes: I'm moving the connection of the pos/neg balance leads from the battery side of the main charger leads to the charger side, then running a long balance lead along with the main charge leads.

Thanks for any input you can offer.
