I think the rule was put in place not just because of the standard size shorty pack, but to prevent a company from making a chassis that only one special battery would fit.
The minimum weight rule makes perfect sense for stock.
Well the thought I had was for there to be an empty cut out where an ESC could "drop in" to the lipo.
Not a great idea, but a possible one
