I have been running a shorty up front since March and with the shorty the balance is so much better. Like many, I tried to make my SC10 4x4 something it was not. I added a bunch of weight, Exotek chassis, lead weight, saddles, etc. Tried to make it into a Losi/Tekno but I found it didn't work as well as the other trucks. I tested an AE Prolite and was impressed with how light it was (but it did not have the same build quality as the SC10 4x4). I then looked at my SC10 4x4 and decided to go the other direction and make it as light as possible. Using a shorty pack would save a ton of weight and it is really an easy modification, I took the stock stick pack battery bracket and basically turned it 90 degrees, drilled one extra hole to hold it in the new location. For a hold down I used the stock holes where the nerf bars attach (front holes) I threaded a M3 set screw into the hole and use some thumbscrews to hold a battery strap down. My strap is carbon fiber but I could have easily used a piece of plastic or aluminum. My SC10 4x4 weights in at 5lbs 5.4oz with a shorty pack and some other mods. Before the shorty mod and the cDiff ny SC10 4x4 just sat on the shelve, and my Durango and Tekno got all the track time. Now I only run the SC10 4x4, the Durango is gone and the Tekno is my backup.

Shorty pack mounted in my SC10 4x4.

I used a scrap piece of CF for a battery hold down.

Two thumbscrews hold the strap down.

5lbs 5.4oz (includes 28grams of lead weight up front) This picture shows it with a VTS slipper that I was testing. I have been using the RCShox cDiff since the middle of 2012 and it is far superior to anything else I have come across (clutch basket, Pinned slipper, VTS).
