with either configuration you can make the car have a similar balance handling-wise. we tested both configurations early on during development. Ty says that car feels more nimble with the shorty, as it should since it is several grams lighter than the saddles. i mainly designed in the saddle configuration so that customers who already have saddle packs wouldn't have to buy shortys to run the D413.
if i remember correctly Ty's car weighed 1720g with the shorty pack. still well clear of the 1613g minimum stated in the rules.
