Just my opinion, but I'm pretty sure there are some slightly bad diffs out there. I've been filling 1/8th scale diffs for years and my center EB48 always leaked from day 1. I replaced the case and it hasn't lost a drip since. No issues on the front/rear of the EB48 or any of the three on my SCT410.

So yes, over tightening can indeed lead to leakage, but IMO there may have been a selective (possibly small) bad run of cases.
