Both are fantastic cars, your assumption about balance is incorrect, all 12th cars are balanced if assembled correctly
Tires for the R5 should be easier to access than for the Yokomo, as the Yokomo uses different wheels than all other standard 12th cars, you could of course change the rear axle/hubs on the Yok to accommodate this
The Yok is super cool though, but I'd suggest that it's more of an expert build than the AE, which is about as easy as it gets for starting out
