The shaft will walk most of the way out. It is loose in the rotor. I might try making a press on "wedding ring" to keep the shaft from sliding out.
Open up the motor and post a pic of the rotor. What kind of motor is it. Better yet post a shirt video. If you say its coming almost all the way then the side of the shaft near the sensor board is coming completely outbid the bearing. At that point the rotor won't spin
