I don't do it for any packs except those that I know won't be used for months at a time. It is easier than checking them every so often over the winter (which I would probably forget to do).
A few years ago I had some 4S ProMatch packs and I gave Jeff (ProMatch owner) a link to the article and asked if it would be good to store them in the freezer over the winter. He said yes.
