Anyway, after a few weeks of tuning with the centered electronics, I settled on the shelf. The traction and agility seemed to be in a good balance for my local tracks. It was slightly easier to get off balance in the air, but was also easily correctable. I hit a jump bad once and was on my side in the air, and was able to pull it back and land on all 4 wheels. Not something I practice, but was not hard. The bug was definitely mire stable with the standard mounted electronics, but i liked the transition steering with the inline.
