I'd say it's a typo and they meant 6.0v (5 cell NIMH) or 7.2v (6 cell NIMH) probably 6.0v as this was an option part for the original kits. It is most likely a 2/3A pack. It used to come with a plastic holder for AAA or AA's so, I guess that is an upgrade.
