There's only so many ways you can build a sidelink rear pod :P.
Not sure about fragile. I've found F1 cars in general to be very sturdy. With a link front I'd be worried about the rods bending or the rods stripping on impact. The carbon arms should be fine, have been using similar constructions on Corally F1 cars for 15-odd years. Not indestructable, but you really have to put an effort in to break it
