Make sure the shocks don't have any restriction using any kind of material in there. If that binds it up, your suspension will not move freely. Remove bottom screw from the arm and move the shock to check for any binding.
If Tekno found the shocks to work better with material in there, it would have came with it. My guess is your binding up your suspension.

This truck will make a little more noise than the Losi or Durango or Associated. There are 1/8 scale gears moving in there. Also a mod1 pinion and spur are a little louder than Durango's and Associated's 32 pitch gears. Just make sure the mesh is correct and don't worry about the noise. The gears will also get quieter after you run it for a day or so which it sounds like you noticed.
