I had to do some googling to find a thread on this. My esc's switch was messed up and would turn off after a hard hit. What i did was solder the black wire to the red wire and left the white one by itself. It's perfectly fine and the calibration ability remains intact. All you have to do to re-calibrate is touch the white wire to the other 2 when needed. Car stays on and haven't had anymore issues with it turning off unintentionally.
Interesting. I tried that and the esc didn't power on when the batteries were plugged in. But the esc is tested and works (by installing a female connector on the torn wires and plugging in a switch with calibrating button from another esc).
