I don't know what the difference is between carpet in the States and Europe is but typically in the states, the stiffer the chassis the better (up to a certain point). Here, if you need chassis flex to gain more traction on carpet, the car is probably not set up correctly to begin with. I can only speak for this at my local carpet track however.
I think you´re speaking on racing with foams.
From what I have heard from different people using a thinner chassis may be better with rubber tires. As we have no or very few racing with foams here in Europe this will be the difference.
Also we are using non smelling tire traction only this also will be a difference. I think all of the "oil of wintergreen" based tire traction compounds will provide more grip.
