Im not a pro like most of you guys but im guessing pullys melting is not a good thing. My car was driving really crappy today so i pulled it apart for a cleaning and saw that the back diff pully was all messed up - all the balls are melted way up into the plastic. So how did i do that ? It wasnt overley tight or loose or dirty. I dont get it. Any info on this would be great. Thanks. D.J.
Usually when you cook a diff, it's from slipping. I would say it loosened up on you or it was set on the loose side.
Try running it just a little bit tighter and see how long it lasts.
