Yep its just a habit of mine, I spend anything possible to get the shocks bulletproof. That moment of revelation was when I drove a kyosho rb5 wc for the first time after owning a dex210 and a crappy cougar sv2.
Orings or at least bladders (to cut if need be) should have been part of the kit though.
