That is a bad buggy to bash... wont last 30 minutes. The are a bit fragile, and are designed for the experienced racer for a race track.... sorry I can't help with gearing. Not many people run 5.5s in a small buggy like that. probably somewhere around 22/85, but i could be a bit off there.
They are no more fragile than any other wheeler. Any rc car is great for father son project. With a 5.5 I would use a 19 or 20 with stock spur. Watch your temps every few minutes you w ill be fine. Have fun #1 goal
