Run a smaller spur, no biggy. Try something like 72/27-28. The first thing I did when I switched to Kyosho, was ditch the kyosho spurs and slipper pads for this very reason. I now run Kimbrough spur gears, and AE pads. AE pads are cheap, work well, and are easy to find... as are the spurs (and you can get any gearing you want with them). The Kimbrough spurs are quiet, and perfectly round... can't beat em.
