Anyone else had any experiences with them?
Here is a little r/c history for you. Brian Kinwald figured out the BK Bar when he cut a tire apart and turned it inside out. He was running for Losi at the time so they put a patent on the design and sold them. At the time nobody gave a flying hoot about off-road, and everyone had a huge erection for TC, so that is where all the new products were being developed. Then almost all at once everyone realized that the motor, battery, chassis of the week game in on-road blew goats, and now without having to keep up with motor/battery maintenance, and trying to chase the ever changing track conditions of off-road, people came back to off-road. With everyone back in off-road, the companies started making new products again. Losi still had the patent on the tread pattern, so anyone that wanted to make a bar style tire had to come up with something different enough to not get sued by Losi. Then the patent ran out, and everyone came out with version 2's of their bar style tires which were pretty much a dead copy of the BK Bars.
All the manufactures make a clay compound as well as other rubber compounds. Each companies rubber compound, and tread design is going to work a bit different. Sometimes they all work as well as eachother, sometimes one is a clear cut advantage. Really the only way to know is to try them. Nobody here runs where you run, so nobody can say for sure.
I guess Australia is pretty far from the pulse of the r/c industry.
