Default Tire testing

Managed to do some testing today at one of my local tracks. It is a large indoor track with a hard packed surface that was dry for my test. The track has a ton of traction when wet and can be a hair loose when dry but the lap times remain fairly close. Even though it is indoor the temps were still a little cold...i would guess high fifties in the track area.

I tested the following...

Super soft strikers
Super soft blades
Ultra flex gripz

Unfortunately I did not have any turbo tax glued up..really wanted to try them.

Ran a tank on a set of worn soft strikers to start the day. These were not very good. Loose and a little push in the corners.

Gripz - car was instantly locked in. Steering was good, better than worn strikers but not as good as new as strikers. Very easy to drive on these. Definitely a long main tire. From the looks of them they should last a while as well.

Blades - overall these were my least favorite. Decent forward bite but side bite was not good. Did not feel comfortable at all with these.

Strikers - these provided the most steering but they were also a tad looser than the
Gripz. Definitely felt faster on these but not as consistent as gripz.

I will definitely be testing some turbo tax in the near future and will provide an update when I do. I will also be testing these three tires outdoor in the next week or so.

I have a big race coming up at this track and as of right now I will be using strikers for my qualifiers and most likely switching to the grips for the main.

I can honestly say I was surprised by these results...I picked up a set of grips just so that I could eliminate them as a possible tire choice and they turned out to be a winner.
