I don't own Spektrum receivers, but I have replaced antennas in 3 Futaba receivers, and it is a 5 minute job. Like the Futaba the Spektrum antenna has a snap on connector on the end. Just open up the case, remove the old antenna, and snap on the new one.
On the SR300 receiver the wire is actually soldered to the board. I have replaced quite a few of them. As long as you are good with micro soldering it is not hard to do. I have used servo wire in the past with good results. No one has ever complained and I still have one I did about 1 yr ago in use in one of my bashers. You have to get the length right and I think it was 9 inches from end to end. I would send them in though and see what Spektrum does for you like the poster below. That way you know it is done right
