Last layout was REALLY hard (think concrete) red clay & rather dusty (even just a few minutes after watering the track) & starting to break up in spots. Green dd's (or similar) were the go to tire. Current layout is much softer & little to no dust & usually damp. Barcodes in clay or ss (or similar) are the go to tire now.
This for an indoor track, & you mentioned no rain, so I'm guessing yours is out door. For out door with more dust & loam, goosebumps --> 3d's --> dd's as the track gets drier picks up a groove. I've run all 3 on the same day as track conditions changed during a summer day.
One day I wish to run three different tires....that will mean I know what I am going!!
