If you have an air leak, don't use the fuel filter as I believe they cause air leaks. The tank on both of my cars do not leak a drop of fuel.
I had same issue back on my BR5, so I submerged the filter in water by capping one end and blowing thru other and found my leak it was just enough effect my tuning, so I ended up applying carb sealer (Lucky7) to the threads of the filter where the o-ring seats and bench tested again-passed.
