Years ago when lipos first came out. There were no balancers. Only chargers.
Lipos need a specific charging voltage. And they have to stop at a specific voltage. As well as a specific amp range.
They also should not be drained completely.
Now days the newer chargers will detect a bad cell and not allow you to charge it. Also they won't allow you to over charge the lipo. Also the charger will not let you charge it at a higher or lower cell count than the battery actually reads.
The cells automatically balance to 4.18 to 4.20 without ever touching a balancer to it. And without even having the balancer lead hooked up to the battery?
Unless of course you have a cell bad. In which case your charger will detect it right away, because a bad cell will only hold peak voltage and not steady voltage.
But again I would never want to change the way anyone currently charges their lipo's. Just some information I have learned though the years from dealing with these.
