do not soak them, put them in a sealed container with acetone in the bottom, put some blocks in the bottom to sit your tires on. it is the fumes that will do the job not the liquid

Usually I cut worn tire and just re-use the rims but I did that with some blue barcodes on my Stadium truck. I left them there for a day, cleaned them with simple green and glue them back on my 22t wheels. I didn't notice any performance difference.
