I think it depends on the size of the track. Small indoor tracks might do better with a 10.5 or 8.5. For larger outdoor tracks a 6.5 could be the better choice.

6.5 is alot of motor and is easy to get out of control especially out of the corners.
10.5 is the smoothest mod motor that can get all the needed speed with a little boost for the long straights if geared properly.
It kinda depends on your skill level too. If you are a very good driver than the 6.5 can work great. If you are just ok, stick with the 8.5-10.5 range.
