2 stage pistons have existed for at least a decade. But no one has ever really run them. Some people say they work and many other say meh, they are a pain to tune. The major car builders have never even offered them as an option and the pro's dont appear to use them or think much of them. I am sure they are situational, but I first saw them from parma in the late 80's and it never really stuck. maybe MIP will get it right this time. but I dont think it should be the baseline. maybe an option part at best.
