Correct. Reason for no outside shim with the .5's is that you need to let the outdrive come into the diff housing to get the pin through the hole.

My thinking is .3 with new gears and .5 with old worn gears. But the trend seems to be .5 either way.

AE was way off when they first put this out if they went from .2 to .5 and nothing in the diff has changed.

My last fluid change I put the .5's in. found out that I just needed new gears. Left the .5 in and I feel that it's too tight. I'm changing back to .3 on the fresh gears to see... I may be back to the .5's, hope not
