No you dont have to cut the shaft, I'm running a 1900 tekin. The shaft does come really close to the batteries and I may cut it just to be safe but only by 1 or 2 mm. The spacer is 4mm long.
I wish i could share more about how mine drives but it has rained out the last two race. I can say I enjoyed building it, the diff gaskets were thick, all the screws were grouped and labeled, and everything felt nice and smooth.
