No lube required. The rack will break in over time and be very smooth and then eventually break. Applying lube will only attract dirt and gunk.
I had a fitment issue with the first rack in my 22T but it just needed a little TLC from an exacto and then it was smooth.
Be sure to have a spare rack ready to go.
