One isn't better than the other IMO, they both get the job done differently.
Check out the losi SCTE also. It's not perfect, neither is the associated but it's easier to get setup and going fast out of the box than the associated.
The associated drives more like a sedan on dirt than the losi so maybe that's a good thing for you.
The losi drives more like a 1/8 buggy, stable but with less turn in than the associated.
Generally the losi is better suited to outdoor tracks and the associated is better suited to indoor tracks. Where will you be racing?
Like Ryan said, if you decide AE, get the team factory team kit for sure.
+1 well said, I would go to the track you will be racing at, ask around, maybe get to drive somebody's truck, one thing I would look for, if there are 10 Losi SCTE there and only one guy running the SC104X4, ask why, chances are most have dumped the SC10 in favor of the Losi. It's a big investment to rush into and get wrong.
